Joonghyun Song

Dr. Joonghyun Song is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Veterinary Medicine at Chungnam National University. He earned his Ph.D. in Veterinary Internal Medicine from Gyeongsang National University in 2019, following the completion of his B.S. in Veterinary Medicine at the same institution in 2015.

Dr. Song has diverse professional experience in veterinary medicine and research. Before joining Chungnam National University in 2021, he served as the Director of Internal Medicine at Ulsan S Animal Medical Center. Prior to that, he worked as a Post-doctoral Researcher at the Dongnam Institute of Radiological Medical Sciences, where he contributed to veterinary medical research.

His research and clinical interests focus on veterinary internal medicine, with a particular emphasis on diagnostic and therapeutic advancements. As a faculty member, he is actively engaged in both teaching and research, aiming to enhance veterinary medical practices and improve animal health outcomes.

Dr. Seimyoung Han received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from Gyeongsang National University and later earned her PhD in Veterinary Clinical Sciences in 2015. Her doctoral research focused on veterinary internal medicine and clinical approaches in companion animals. With a strong clinical background in small animal internal medicine, she has been actively involved in educating veterinary nurses and has recently focused on developing strategies to enhance professional achievement and job satisfaction among veterinary nurses.

Dr. Oh Won-seok graduated from Kyungpook National University, College of Vet. Medicine. He inherited the family business from his father, Dr. Oh Gyu-sil, who opened Dr’Oh Large Animal Hospital in 1973. Since 1997, Dr. Oh Won-seok has been operating Dr.Oh’s Small Animal Hospital. He earned a master's degree in Vet. Pathology (2003) and a doctorate in Vet. Internal Medicine and Dermatology (2007) from Kyungpook National University. He also completed further studies at the University of Queensland, Australia, under the guidance of Dr. Jacqui Rand (ACVIM, USA), Dr. Jane Armstrong (Past President of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine), and Dr. Geraldine Blanchard (Specialist in Vet. Nutrition, Europe), where he focused on clinical nutrition, disease genetics, obesity, and diabetes.
In 2008, Dr. Oh obtained certification as a pathologist from the Korean Society of Veterinary Pathology. He is also a qualified animal-assisted therapist, with a strong interest in animal-assisted therapy research. For the past 18 years, he has served as an academic technology advisor for Hill’s Pet Nutrition Korea, SungBo Science Tech. Co. Ltd., and Neodin Vet Lab Co. Ltd., the latter providing diagnostic pathology services to approximately 4,000 veterinary hospitals in Korea. He also worked as a consultant for the Veterinary Clinical Consulting System (VCS) hosted by the Korea Veterinary Clinical Education Institute.
Dr. Oh has actively contributed to various academic platforms. He was an academic committee member and special lecturer at the 2011 World Small Animal Veterinary Congress in Jeju, delivering lectures alongside renowned experts in clinical nutrition, including Dr. Jane Armstrong (USA) and Dr. Claudia Kirk (USA). He also participated in the 2017 World Veterinary Congress in Incheon, working with global leaders in clinical nutrition, such as Dr. Geraldine Blanchard (France) and Dr. Andrea Fascetti (USA).
Up to 2024, Dr. Oh continues to focus on veterinary dermatology, internal medicine, and clinical nutrition. His research emphasizes health promotion and disease management throughout the pet life cycle. His work encompasses diabetes and obesity, skin barrier recovery, treatment of elderly and chronic conditions, and long-term dietary management. He is currently a key researcher and advisor for veterinary policy projects under the Korean Veterinary Medical Association, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, and the Korean Animal Hospital Association.
From 2017 to 2018, Dr. Oh was a visiting researcher at Seoul National University and taught 4veterinary nutrition as a part-time lecturer. Since 2019, he has continued to teach veterinary nutrition as a adjunct professor. In 2021, he began collaborating on research with the Seoul National University Veterinary Integrated Medical Research Center. In 2022, he earned the prestigious qualification as a Diplomat of Asian College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (DAiCVIM).
Dr. Oh is dedicated to furthering research and education in veterinary medicine. He is actively involved in industry-academic research and contributes to the development of the Korean veterinary field in collaboration with the College of Veterinary Medicine, the pet industry, and the Korean Veterinary Medical Association. He works tirelessly to promote the global status of veterinary medicine in Korea.
